    Great surge protector!

    I have one of these on my SCIO and have never had a problem with it. My house was recently hit by lightning, and it took out my regular computer even though it was on a surge protector! It blew out 3 breakers as well as the surge protector. I decided it was time to invest in the best surge protector out there! I appreciate it that it is medical grade. It is compact but heavy and fits well on my desk. I don't think you could go wrong by purchasing one of these.

The heavy duty quality of this hospital grade protector is evident when you take it out of the box and we've been using and recommending them for decades now. For clarity, I need to point out the difference between a power surge and a direct lighting strike. The Isobar 6 Ultra with its 3330 joule rating is designed to handle surges caused by various factors like power outages, appliance cycling, and nearby lightning strikes. However, a direct lightning strike carries an enormous amount of energy (potentially billions of volts) that can overwhelm standard surge protectors, including the Isobar 6 Ultra. A direct lightning strike releases an enormous amount of energy, typically between one billion and ten billion joules. I would not want to give you or anyone the perception that the Isobar 6 Ultra could protect from a direct lighting strike. The Isobar 6 Ultra is rated up to 3330 joules. We always recommend unplugging expensive electronics during a lighting storm just to be on the safe side. Thanks again for taking the time to review. It helps us more than you know!

    Item is better than expected. It is heavy duty and the long cord is exactly what I need. The surge suppressor is compact, can be mounted on the wall the dust covers for unused port is great.
